Which medication is included among common pharmacologic treatments for AUB?

NSAIDs

Managing abnormal uterine bleeding often relies on drugs that lessen the amount of bleeding by dampening prostaglandin-driven activity in the uterus. NSAIDs fit this role because they inhibit cyclooxygenase enzymes, which reduces prostaglandin synthesis in the endometrium. With fewer prostaglandins, uterine contractions and the local blood flow are altered in a way that decreases menstrual blood loss and also helps relieve cramps. That makes NSAIDs a common first-line pharmacologic option for AUB. Antibiotics and antifungals are used only for infections, and chemotherapy isn’t a treatment for AUB.
